Dr. Stephen Holt, M.D. is a Distinguished Professor of Medicine and a medical practitioner in New York State.
He has published many peer-review papers in medicine and he is a best-selling author with twenty books in
national and international distribution. He has received several awards for teaching and research. As a full
professor of medicine for 20 years and an adjunct professor of Bioengineering for 10 years. Dr. Holt is a

RESEARCH INTERESTSAND EXPERIENCE:
I have performed independent and collaborative research in the following areas: bioengineering,
epidemiology, gastrointestinal function, therapeutics, nutrition and drug development. I have
special interests in new drug development, phase I-V, pharmaceutical and biotechnology with
special interests in remedies of natural origin.

GRANT HISTORY:
I have held grants (principal or co-investigator) from American Cancer Society, Ontario Government,
co-investigator Federal Government Special-Fund-Ionising Radiation, Canada, 1983 Local
Foundations and Industry. (1972-94) >5 million and much industry funding of research, including
key decisions on drug and supplement research and development. Advice and administration of
large commercial budgets in medical research, > 60 million per annum, on occasion.

MAJOR TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
Undergraduate:
I have organized and delivered undergraduate teaching in Therapeutics, Pharmacy Clinical
Pharmacology, Advanced Nursing Studies, Gastroenterology and Nutrition, which included
responsibilities in basic science and clinical education. I have general internal medicine and physical
diagnosis, ad hoc. Since 1975, I have been involved in core program teaching in medicine, dentistry
and pharmacy and planned curricula and revision for several Academic Institutions. I have been
active in planning undergraduate curriculae. I have contributed to the design of graduate programs in
medical sciences.

Graduate:
I have been actively involved in the organization and delivery of residency and fellowship teaching.
The programs emphasized continuing assessment and board preparation. I was a principal teacher
for MRCP diploma examinations and taught physicians from several European countries, the Far
East and India for the membership examinations of the Royal College of Physicians (UK). I was an
instructor for the diploma in Advanced Nursing, UK, and was a Royal College of Nursing examiner.
I was a co-founder of the Self Assessment Program in Gastroenterology that is used by the American
College of Gastroenterology. I have run ACGME accredited Gastroenterology programs and have
restored one program from cancellation by ACGME and two programs from probation to full accreditation.
I have supervised or contributed to achievements of several thesis candidates.

Other:
I have chaired or contributed to the organization and delivery of several regional, national and
international continuing medical education symposia including affiliations with the European
Society of Digestive Diseases, American College of Gastroenterology, the World Congress of
Gastroenterology and the Asian-Pacific Congress of Gastroenterology and the Asian-Pacific Congress
of Digestive Endoscopy. I was the Director of the Sino-American Education and Research Exchange
with Sun Yat-Sen University in China, where I hold an honorary faculty appointment. My fellows have won
regional awards and national citations from the American College of Physicians for research. I have
planned seminars on dietary supplements research and regulatory issues. I am regular keynote
speaker at national and international food science meetings. I have special interests in alternative
medical practices as a complementary approach to medicine.

PRINCIPAL CLINICAL AND HOSPITAL SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
I have received training in each subspecialty of Internal Medicine. I have broad experience of administrative
matters in hospital and academic practice. I am experienced in all diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic
procedures. I have always taken full clinical service responsibilities. My duties have included medical
outpatient clinics, impatient consultations, all endoscopic procedures and administrative responsibilities.
Patient Care has been integrated with undergraduate and postgraduate teaching of medical students,
residents and fellows. My practice is largely tertiary referral. I have headed Quality Assurance programs
and consulted with several third party insurance agencies.

TELEMEDICINE AND TELECARE EXPERIENCE
I have been very active in the development and evaluation of novel health communication utilizing
creative audiovisual techniques, video presentations (pre-recorded and live), radio interviewing,
audio teaching and computer software.
I have worked with the design and application of computer assisted testing of lifestyle.
I have a special interest in computer video formats and potential interventions in health care
including epidemiological applications and patient care.
I have developed several novel communication programs for multinational pharmaceutical
companies for use in the switch of prescription drugs to over the counter formulations.
I have written or developed print and electronic teaching formats for nutritional approaches to
disease and the use of dietary supplements.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT (DISCLOSURE)
I have developed more than 50 biopharmaceutical or nutritional products from which I receive
royalties on sales. The cumulative sales of such products are among industry leaders in their
categories. I founded Biotherapies Inc. in 1997 and Natures benefit Inc. in 2000.
